ELROY’S FINE FOODS
RETAIL
This project revitalized a mid-century modern building originally designed by Rowan Maiden (an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright), into a contemporary local market while preserving its architectural heritage. The design highlights the building’s original glulam beams, complemented by geometric patterned tiles and a bold yellow exterior. An oversized illuminated sign serves as a nostalgic reference to classic neighborhood grocers.

The interior includes a full commercial kitchen featuring a Grillworks wood-burning oven and an expansive hot and cold bar wrapped in marble and glass. A dedicated beverage bar offering wine, bone broth, smoothies, and coffee, is positioned beneath a slatted wood architectural feature that integrates with the original beam detailing. Custom-crafted wood point-of-sale counters, shelving, and endcaps further reinforce Elroy’s brand identity and design ethos.
