  • Project Programming, Visioning, and Goal Setting: This involves defining functional requirements, as well as your vision for the project.

Zoning, Code Review, and Agency Analysis for the Proposed Project Scope: Requires us to explore and plan for constraints given by the planning, building, water, and accessibility agencies.

Development of Baseline Budgeting and Schedule: This process allows us to give you a realistic picture of expected costs and timelines, serving as a roadmap for decision-making throughout the project.

Our feasibility process is the first step in making your project a reality. We take a close look at your goals, budget, and site conditions to determine what is possible and what challenges may need to be addressed. This phase helps clarify the scope of work, explore design options, and provide realistic cost and schedule expectations. By the end of this phase, you will have a clear path forward with the confidence to move into the design and construction phases.

  • Space Planning and Design Direction: Thoughtfully arranging your space to maximize flow, efficiency, and functionality with a clear understanding for look and feel.

Construction Documentation: Once we have designed your vision, it is time to document it. We coordinate with consultants to get this package ready for permit submission.

Fixtures, Furnishings and Equipment Selections: The pieces that bring your space to life and make it functional. This includes everything from seating and tables, to lighting, artwork, and accessories. We guide you through selecting items that fit your style, budget and needs, and package it in construction documentation.

Project Management: Coordinating every detail seamlessly, so your design journey is stress-free.

Our interior design services span from early concept development through construction coordination. With a focus on spatial flow, materiality, and user experience, we work closely with each client to understand their needs, aspirations, and identity—translating those insights into spaces that are both thoughtfully designed and enduringly functional.

  • Streamlined Communication: Direct collaboration between designers and builders keeps everyone on the same page, reducing delays and revisions.

Faster Project Timelines: With scheduling, permitting, and coordination handled under one roof, we can move projects forward more quickly.

Cost Control: Early and continuous cost estimating during design helps keep budgets realistic and aligned with your goals throughout the construction process.

Design Integrity: Close coordination during construction ensures the original design intent is preserved through to the final built product.

Our construction services span every phase of the build—from ground-up structures to detailed interiors. With deep roots in the industry, we bring hands-on expertise and technical precision to every project. Working in close collaboration, our in-house builders, interior designers, and project managers ensure a seamless process from concept to completion. We also manage permitting, coordinating with agencies and addressing plan check requirements to keep projects on track. This integrated approach allows us to deliver spaces that are both thoughtfully designed and expertly built to reflect your vision.

and their perfectly
crafted day…

  • Sr. Interior Designer

    Beginning
“I’d start the day with a miso caramel latte from Ad Astra and head to my favorite (secret) beach for a slow morning. Just me, a good book or my journal, and the sound of waves doing their thing.”

    Middle
“Later, I’d meet up with a friend for one of those long, winding walks where the conversation goes everywhere. After that, it’s off to the ceramics studio to get my hands in clay and lose track of time.”

    End
“Dinner looks like a home-cooked carbonara with my husband. Then we’d cozy up on the couch with our three orange fur babies (kitties in full snuggle mode) watching one of our comfort shows.”

  • Project Manager

    Beginning
“Wake up early around 5:30am and take my dog, Walter, for a run along the Monterey Bay coastline. Then I head back home, wake up Ellie, and walk down together to Ad Astra for coffee and pastries.”

    Middle
“I load up the car, Ellie in the passenger seat, Walter in the back. We have just enough supplies for a drive down to Big Sur to meet friends for an afternoon of beach games and food at Andrew Molera State Beach.”

    End
“Catch the sunset on the drive home along Highway 1, then meet the parents at our place for pizza, a couple of drinks, and watch some baseball.”

  • Project Manager/ Operations

    Beginning
“Start the day early with my wife and our dog Hime — grab a coffee and croissant from Ad Astra and head to Carmel Beach. We let Hime run and throw the ball while the fog’s still hanging out over the ocean. It’s quiet, just the three of us and the sound of the waves.”

    Middle
“Top down, we take a slow drive down Highway 1 — no rush, just cruising. Stop at Big Sur River Inn, sit in the river with a drink and some lunch, maybe take a few photos if the light hits right. Just enjoying the drive and the day.”

    End
“Meet up with friends and family back in Carmel for dinner at Aubergine or Chez Noir. Good food, great wine, maybe finish with a bourbon. No schedule, just time well spent with people I care about.”

  • Project Coordinator

    Beginning
“I’d kick off the day with a strong Vietnamese coffee and the Yuzu blackberry tarte from Ad Astra. Then I’m ready to get things done. It’s so satisfying to work on side projects, whether they’re my own, or friends’. It brings me so much joy.”

    Middle
“A cruise down to Big Sur for a hike along Boronda Ridge is next on my list. The green hillside and long stretch of ocean views are unmatched. Then I’d cool down with a swim and picnic by the river with my precious dog, Bentley.”

    End
“The perfect ending to my day would be spent at a friend’s house on the coast, live music playing, stars are singing, and we are all dancing.”

  • Interior Designer

    Beginning
“There’s something about slow, early mornings I really love. The quiet before the day picks up. And then, all at once, I want to move. I ride my bike to barre, maybe a dance class with friends. Always with friends.”

    Middle
“I love to explore, usually on skates. You notice things you’d never catch otherwise, and you meet the most curious people. I’d pop into thrift shops downtown hunting for little treasures.”

    End
“A seafood dinner is my ideal way to close out the day. Oysters on the grill, seafood or mushroom pasta, and a slice of cake for my second stomach. My family lives out of state but on a perfect day they’d be there.”

  • Field Lead

    Beginning
“I like to wake up before sunrise with my daughter, the air still cool and quiet, and tend to our garden as the sun slowly washes the valley in gold.”

    Middle
“In the afternoon, I walk down to Lovers Point with my wife and daughter, feeling the warmth of the sun and the salty ocean breeze as we stop to watch the waves crash against the rocks.”

    End
“We end the day cooking dinner together in our Carmel Valley kitchen, filling the house with the smell of herbs and roasted vegetables from our garden, sharing the meal as the sky outside fades to pink.”

  • Field Lead

    Beginning
“The coffee maker is scheduled to brew at 7:30am. By 7:45am I am up with coffee in hand, skipping breakfast and trying to get some giggles out of my daughter.”

    Middle
“Around noon, I would load up my vehicle with disk golf disks, paragliders, a charged speaker and my dog and head over to Elroy’s for a quick bite to eat. After lunch, I would toss some disks in some baskets with some friends.”

    End
“The end of the perfect day starts in the afternoon. The wind would be blowing out of the west at 14 mph. I would paraglide until sunset making big turns, watching whales and dragging my feet in the sand. After coming in for a landing, I would pack up my wing, crack a beer, and then head home to spend time with my family.”

  • Employee of the Month: Every Month

    Beginning
“Jump into my dad's 1968 Bronco and cruise the 1 to Carmel Beach with my head sticking out of the window the entire way.  Once I arrive, I love charging down the big sandy hill to the shore and playing in the waves with my dad.”

    Middle
“Having a new baby brother around is tough competition. I love when he takes a nap in his room, and I get mom and dad all to myself for an afternoon snuggle. Just us three like the good ol’ days.”

    End
“A pawfect end to my day is a leisurely walk down to Fieldwork with my family. While they enjoy a beer, the locals bring me treats, pets, and adoration. I am kind of a legend there.”

A smiling man with dark hair and a beard wearing an olive green button-up shirt with a Craftsman logo, standing in front of a wood-paneled wall.
  • Founder, Principal

    Beginning
“Early morning stroll down Alvarado Street with my family. We grab breakfast and coffee at Ad Astra, then make our way to the legendary Laguna Seca Raceway, either to ride a few moto track day sessions or enjoy one of their races.”

    Middle
“Lunch at Elroy’s before heading out to the Marina Sand Dunes for an afternoon paragliding session over the Monterey Bay.”

    End
“Walk down to Stokes Adobe with my family (including the pup) to toast an incredible day at one of their firepits.”

  • Principal, Creative Director

    Beginning
“I’d grab a nonfat cappuccino and avo toast from Captain + Stoker, then head out to Garland for a morning hike with my son, Farley. We’d stop to pick wildflowers, and smell everything.”

    Middle
“Afterwards, we’d cruise to Carmel-by-the-Sea for a glass of rosé and a market salad at Stationaery’s courtyard patio. Then stroll through town hitting some of my favorite spots: House of Cardoon, Tejido, Wally’s, and GBG.”

    End
“We’d wrap the day back at our Spaghetti Hill home, hosting close friends and cooking dinner over an open fire while Farley plays in the garden. Ending the night sharing stories and a killer bottle of cab.”
